The Whip,
one of Fantasy Farms most popular and classic rides, was invented in 1914 by
W.F. Mangels. It is an oblong flat ride that has a dozen or so cars attached
with a cable to a oblong rotating platform. As the platform turns the cars
or pulled along. When they are pulled around ends of the platform, they
swing out and create a whip like motion pressing the rider back into their
seat and leaving them with a slight tickle in their belly. This is a fun
ride for children and adults to enjoy together.
The Whip at
Fantasy Farm was bought at auction by none other than William Mangels Jr.,
the great-grandson of the original manufacturer of the ride. The selling
price was $3,500.
