I was trying to find
a way to introduce this new collection of photos when I realized
Kevin's letter, telling me of the new find, was a great start. For
those who do not know Kevin Miller, he is a great Fantasy Farm
Amusement Park fan and a great contributor to the Fantasy Farm
Memorial website. As a matter of fact all of the
movies we have here on the site were
donated by Kevin and his family. Most all were taken by his
family. Also, many photos, most of the best ones, are a Miller family
outing captured on film.
Recently Kevin has been communicating with Lindy Streifthau, Edger
Streifthau's son. (Edger was the creator of LeSourdsville Lake and
Fantasy Farm Amusement Park and many other things. See our
History page for more on that.) Through
Kevin we have been able to enjoy many great artifacts here at the
Fantasy Farm Memorial. These 15 slide scans are the newest. They show
Fantasy Farm during initial construction.
"Lindy
Streifthau sent me
seventy three professional
quality 35mm slides of Fantasy Farm being built and
the early days in operation. This is a must see for
anyone that cares about the park. Did you ever wonder
what it looked like to see the Dodgem cars, scrambler
cars, whip cars and boats all together in the same
building waiting for assembly? Did you ever wonder
what Santa's belly looked like. Yes now you can see
Santa lying on his back. Do you remember what the
Merry go round clown was standing on? See the freshly
painted Animals professionally photographed before the
sides were installed to the building. did you ever
wonder what the whips basement looked like? Well I
guess not. I'm getting these slides cleaned. I have a
professional slide scanner but like the 16mm video
these are so good they must be done right. If you are
like me you want to see them right now. They are a bit
dirty some more than others."
From an email by Kevin Miller April,
2006.Enjoy this great collection
of photos donated by Lindy Streifthau. As you can see they date way back. We
don't really have any details but hope to soon. |
