Fantasy Farm
was the first amusement park I ever went to. From my childhood, I still remember the
roller coaster [movie], the big
red cars on the cart track, and the animals. But my fondest
memory of the park dates to 1991 when my wife and I took our 3-year old daughter there on
the last day the park was in operation. She'd never been to an amusement park
before, so she didn't know for King's Island or Cedar Point. She just rode the rides
(many of them by herself, as big girls do) and petted the animals and, at the end of the
day, fell asleep in the back seat with a contented smile on her face. I can still picture
the front gate in my rearview mirror as we left the parking lot, knowing it'd be the last
time we'd ever go there. Sigh.
